Vision

The Rise School is the only private preschool in Austin committed to a fully integrated, state-of-the-art classroom experience that provides a quality education for every child, regardless of their disabilities.

The design of the classrooms and other facility features are unparalleled, and the school adheres to the philosophy and recommended practices of both early childhood special education and general education. Rise offers parents and teachers a place to observe and interact within the unique learning environment. Additional therapy areas for speech and other special needs, along with play areas, also serve to enhance the classroom setting.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges of the project is that the school would need to provide a fully integrated learning environment by supporting traditional learners and children with a broad range of developmental disabilities. The Burt Group followed strict Child ADA standards throughout the school’s construction in order to ensure that all components and features were accessible to children with disabilities.

Additionally, with a groundbreaking in late January and the school scheduled to open for the 2014 fall semester, The Burt Group had a tight turnaround time for the over 24,000 square foot project. Often faced with poor weather conditions, The Burt Group leveraged innovative and alternative construction methods to save time and remain on schedule.

Success

Foregoing off-the-shelf solutions, the design and construction team worked on budget and in record time to strategically create Austin’s very first educational campus that integrates children with and without special needs. With an efficiency of teaching, Rise provides a valuable and enjoyable learning experience for Austin’s incredible students. The Burt Group team is extremely proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by all of their employees, as well as the community, in helping this effective school to succeed.
